Greta Gerwig

Greta Gerwig (born August 4, 1983) is an American actress and filmmaker. She is best known for her association with the mumblecore movement. Greta has collaborated with director Joe Swanberg on several projects, including the film Nights and Weekends, which the two co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in. She made her mainstream debut in 2010, co-starring alongside Ben Stiller in Greenberg, directed by Noah Baumbach. A native of Sacramento, California, Gerwig graduated from Barnard College, where she studied English and philosophy. Originally intending to become to a playwright, Greta was cast in a minor role in Joe Swanberg's LOL in 2006 while still studying at Barnard and from there began a fruitful partnership with the director and an association with other mumblecore filmmakers.
